Les was orginally from California, where he spent all of his childhood. He didn't get involved in sports in high school as he enjoyed photography and writing. When he got out of high school he served in the US Navy for six years. He saw many countries in the Pacific Region and met his eventual wife who was from Australia. After his service in the Navy he began working for an electronics components distributor. After being there a couple of years they moved their corporate headquarters to Mansfield, Texas and he moved with them. He has been there ever since. Besides coaching, Les is the Head of Delegation for the team. This involves filling out a lot of paperwork and some accounting, but it is all worth it to see what his athletes do when they get a chance to compete and perform their best. Les also enjoys photography (still), genealogy, working on computers and creating and updating websites. He is the webmaster for the team's website and enjoys sharing the love of Special Olympics with the athletes, coaches, parents and volunteers that he has worked with over the years. So, the next time you are at a Special Olympics Texas event, be sure to look for Les. He is probably wearing red or black (the team's colors) and he's probably cheering or taking pictures of those athletes as they head for victory. |

We would like to introduce everyone to our Head of Delegation for the Mansfield Alumni Mustangs Special Olympics Texas team. Les Fenton has been involved with Special Olympics Texas since 1995. He got involved because his son started to participate with the Mansfield ISD Special Olympics Texas team in 1992. His wife got involved as a coach and he soon followed her lead. He is currently a coach for Aquatics, Basketball, Bowling, Cycling and Powerlifitng.
